In defense of Barry Harrison
(Letter to the Editor ~ 02/04/12)
I have heard in the past, all these letters written about former mayor Barry Harrison. I want to tell you my opinion of him. In my view he is a good Christian man, had a wonderful father (who is deceased) and mother (which is still living here in Blytheville), has a lovely wife and children. In my time knowing Mr. Harrison, he has been a wonderful asset to the community, always willing to help when and where he is needed...

Citizens can't affort to "suck it up" with tax
(Letter to the Editor ~ 02/04/12)
I am writing in regard to the letter to the editor urging citizens of Blytheville to "suck it up" and pay the tax. I seriously doubt the IRS will seize anyone's bank accounts, and for the majority of the people here, it would not matter. You see, the majority of the people here live check to check. We don't have money in the bank for the IRS to take. We are the ones who suffer from the tax, the poor! We are taxed too much as it is now...

Super Bowl QB matchup is one to watch
(Professional Sports ~ 02/04/12)
Super Bowl XVI has been called the most anticipated Super Bowl in history. While I selfishly cringe at the idea of another Boston vs. New York rivalry in professional sports, I do admit that the matchup at quarterback is one of the most intriguing head-to-head matchups in sports.
