Bush won't run again Blytheville City Treasurer Douglas Bush announced today that he will not seek re-election this November. "I would like to thank the voters for allowing me to serve 12 years, and am very grateful to my co-workers for their kindness and dedication to doing what is right for the citizens of Blytheville, especially Faye Griggs, Elaine Bailey, Regina Johnson, Beth Connell, City Clerk Grace Hainie and many others. "I consider myself very fortunate that my terms coincided with those of Mayor Barrett Harrison. He always backed me 100 percent whenever I challenged or questioned an expenditure. I have enormous respect for him and the job he has done as mayor."

Local nursing homes sold

A family-owned company headquartered in Melbourne, Ark., has purchased the Osceola and Gosnell nursing homes. The deal was finalized Aug. 6 and new interim administrators are already at work. Owners Jim Cooper and Bobby Hargis told The Osceola Times Tuesday they have been in the nursing home business since October 1987 and they are looking forward to being a part of Mississippi County...
