Gosnell starts year with cash

GOSNELL -- In his state of the city address Tuesday, Gosnell Mayor Dick Reams said the city is beginning the year with more than a million dollars. "We have more money than we started out with," Reams said. "As of Dec. 31, 2008, we had $910,000, and as of Dec. 31, 2009, we had $936,000, a $26,000 increase. We have another $100,000 that will be coming in bring us up to over a million dollars. The economy is not good, but everything looks good in Gosnell."...

Comedian Jason Thompson will bring his "Back from Iraq" comedy show to the stage of the Ritz Civic Center at 7 p.m. Friday. The program is a 2009--10 Series event presented by The Arts Council of Mississippi County. Admission is $10, for all ages. County needs home for records

Once the county's records have been scanned into digital format, large record books may be moved out of the two county courthouses for storage elsewhere, members of the Mississippi County Quorum Court's efficiency committee decided Tuesday.
