Rev. Huey Odis Meherg, 79, of Osceola, died Nov. 15, 2015 in his home. Born Jan. 20, 1936 in Deering, Mo., he was a pastor and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a licensed minister for 38 years with the Pentecostal Church of God. He was a member and pastor of Etowah Pentecostal Church of God for 38 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston Meherg and Rosie Holmes Meherg, sister Bobbie Sellars and brother Jess Meherg.

Mr. Meherg leaves his wife, Diane Meherg of Etowah;

Three daughters, Debbie Lambert of Hernando, Miss., Karen Crockett of Marion, and Sandra Rosamond of Manila;

Two sons, Rodney Meherg of Springfield, Mo. and Joseph Paul Meherg of Etowah;

Six sisters, Helen Whitacker of Blytheville, Ora Lee Hussey of Keiser, Sue Beard of Dyess, Pat Keel of Oxford, Miss., Shirley Day of Boniar, Ga., and Linda Humphery of Dixon, Mo.;

One brother, Jim Meherg of Golconda, Ill.;

24 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of God in Etowah on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Phil Redding, will be held at the church on Wed. Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola.
