Alma McGruder

Alma Sue Holmes McGruder, entered Heaven's gates Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the age of 88.

Sue was born in Reyno, Ark., the daughter of James and Allie Holmes. Sue was a lifelong resident off Blytheville and raised her family on Promiseland Road. Most recently, she was a resident at Huntington Place, assisted living facility in Rockledge, Fla. A consummate mother and homemaker, Sue enjoyed gardening and floral arranging. One of her most prized accomplishments was receiving the Yard of the Month award from the Blytheville Garden Club. Sue had an unwavering faith in God and was a member off Clearlake Baptist Church in Blytheville since 1965.

She was predeceased by her two sons, Michael T. and Daniel F. McGruder, of Blytheville; brothers, Jim A. Holmes, Jack D. Holmes, Donald D. Holmes; and sisters, Patsy R. Craft, Betty J. Salmi, and Dorothy J. Collier.

Sue is survived by her ever faithful daughter, Teresa (Freddy) Dickinson, of Rockledge, Fla.;

Her two brothers, Bobby L. (Kathy) Holmes, of Dell, and James C. "Sonny" (Diane) Holmes, of White House, Tenn.;

Loving grandchildren, Mark McGruder, of Kennett, Julia S. Havins of Midland, Texas, and Candice B. Henessee, of Poplar Bluff, and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, September 15 at 1 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Lourcey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until service time. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
